The Complete Herb Grower: A Full-Day Master Class with Jekka on Growing Herbs from Seed and Cuttings
Discover the joy of growing herbs from seed and cuttings in this immersive, hands-on day at Jekka’s. Nothing is more rewarding than taking a small cutting from a plant and watching it flourish into an identical, healthy new plant. Equally, it’s magical to sow seeds and see them unfurl into vigorous, productive herbs. During this full-day experience, you’ll learn both methods and take home your own cuttings and seedlings to nurture and plant in your garden, bringing the day’s work to life.
Morning: Growing from Seed
You’ll begin by learning the art of sowing seeds from understanding different seed types and handling techniques, to choosing the right compost and sowing medium. Jekka will demonstrate how to water correctly and guide you through the essential stages of pricking out and potting on young plants.
Afternoon: Propagating from Cuttings
In the afternoon, Jekka will share her sustainable approach to growing from cuttings; a method that uses no rooting powders or synthetic hormones. You’ll learn how to take and prepare cuttings for a variety of herbs and other plants, as well as how to care for them with the right soil and watering techniques.
By the end of the day, you’ll have the confidence and knowledge to grow herbs successfully from both seeds and cuttings using the same environmentally friendly, sustainable methods that Jekka uses for her award-winning herbs.
