A MODERN APOTHECARY GARDEN
St John's Hospice garden, London
Based on Jekka's award-winning 'A Modern Apothecary Garden' shown at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2016. The garden has now been relocated an planted in its permanent home at St John's Hospice.
HEALTH & WELL-BEING GARDEN
The Three Counties Showground, Malvern
Designed by Jekka McVicar, maintained by Pathways and Three Counties Showground. The health and wellbeing garden has been built as a permanent garden in the centre of the three counties showground, supporting Pathways a work based day service for young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Southmead Hospital rooftop garden, Bristol
This garden was created for the doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals to use whilst working in a very busy city hospital. It is a tranquil space on the roof of the multi storey building for them to have a moments peace and time to reflect.
RHS Chelsea Flower Show, 2016 'A Modern Apothecary Garden'
The inspiration for 'A Modern Apothecary' was based on conversations with doctors and care professionals about what we can do to improve our own health within the context of gardens and plants. The garden featured research-based plants known to be beneficial to the health and well being of society. It will be a place of quiet reflection, which seeks to highlight the important relationship between medicine and nature.
The Goring, London
Jekka designed and planted a culinary herb garden in the heart of London for the Goring as part of their refurbishment. The herb garden contained over 100 different herbs to be used in their new Goring Bar and Siren restaurant fronted by Nathan Outlaw. (Read the article in the Telegraph)
Riverstone Kensington Residence, London
Jekka has created a herb garden for Riverstone, a provider of exceptional London living for the over 65s, at their Kensington residence. It is part of a community garden for residents to enjoy with their friends, children and grandchildren (Read Jekka's blog about her garden).
