Jekka’s Mustard Salad Herb Mix provides both texture and flavour to your salads or sandwiches.

Jekka's Herb Salad Mixes can be cut several times making a cut and come again source of salad. Jekka’s tip is to keep pinching our young plants to promote new growth and prevent flowering. You should get at least three cuts from one sowing and therefore, depending on use, we would recommend a fresh sowing every 6 weeks for a continual supply.

Once cutting commences liquid feed weekly with a good organic fertilizer to keep the leaves succulent and productive.

The herb seed mix contains a variety of mustards:

  • Pizzo
  • Red Lace
  • Red Zest
  • Red Lion
  • Green Frills

Jekka’s salad leaf mixes are selected from herb varieties that grow well together and provide interesting and tasty babyleaf salads which are ideal for the home or allotment. They can be grown in open ground or under protection.

Grown from seed:

  • Indoor sowing: Sow in early spring into prepared plug trays or direct into pots. Sow thinly and cover with perlite. Plant out direct when all threat of frost has passed, or into a cold frame for early cropping.

  • Outdoor sowing: sow direct in early summer, when the soil has warmed and all threat of frost has gone, into a prepared site where the soil is rich, moist and lightly shaded. Sow thinly into rows 60cm apart, cover lightly with soil and water in.

Happy Herbs!

One of our three core roots is that we are Environmentally Conscious and for the past 30 years all the herbs grown at Jekka’s have been raised following sustainable, environmentally friendly and organic approaches resulting in a remarkable biodiversity at the herb farm.

Our herb seeds are also untreated and can be used to grow organic herb plants. Our seeds are hand packed into gassine bags, which are fully recyclable, compostable and biodegradable. These bags are then put into beautifully illustrated paper seed packets. Therefore, our environmental footprint is small.
