Celebrating 40 years of growing herbs at Jekka's

Jekka's, formerly know as Jekka's Herb Farm, started in 1984 when Jekka had just returned to the UK after living in France. She had two toddlers and was working from home when a friend popped in to get some fresh French Tarragon for an Elizabeth David recipe.

Jekka had always grown herbs in her small garden in north Bristol, a passion past down from her grandmother and mother. This was an era before fresh herbs were readily available in the supermarkets and Jekka realised that she could easily propagate herbs from her garden at home, with two small children, and this was the start of her herb business.

To see just how much Jekka has achieved over the past 40 years, have a look at the farm's history through the link below.

Jekka's 100 Herbs to Grow Competition

Herbs in early spring

Inspired by Jekka's 100 Herbs to Grow and the history of Jekka's? How about starting your own herb garden or renovating your herb patch?

Signs that spring is on its way are all around us at Jekka's. Every year our seasons differ and we have been recording the changes. The light level this year has been so much better than the last and our herbs have been embracing it. Last year, we wrote 4 seasonally blogs about Jekka's Herb Garden which you can find here.

We continue the series with our latest blog, 'Early Spring in Jekka's Herb Garden' documenting the herbs that are providing us with colour and flavour this month.

Read our latest blog, buy Jekka's new book and come along to our open days on the 5th and 6th April (tickets on sale from the 3rd March).
