At Jekka's we aim to inspire people to grow and use herbs as well as to gain knowledge about the power of herbs. We are delighted with the great responses we receive to our Master Classes, Open Days and Gardens. We are continually developing our website with new seeds, blogs mail order kits and herb boxes. In 2025 we are running new herb days, which builds on our popular Jekka's HerbFest and utilises Jekka's culinary and medicinal Herb Garden at the herb farm in South Gloucestershire. We are growing our plans for 2025 and are looking for passionate people to join our team.
As part of a small team you will work on a large variety of tasks including developing and using skills in propagation of an ever expanding herb collection, to working with leading landscapers growing for their RHS Chelsea gardens. See here, for some of the gardens we have completed.
Jekka's is unique in the fact that we propagate and sow most of our collection of over 400 culinary & medicinal herbs on our farm in South Gloucestershire (see how to find us here).

Senior Gardener
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Gardener to join our team at Jekka’s.
About the role:
This is a varied and evolving role working within a small and passionate team. You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, development, and presentation of several garden areas, including:
- Jekka’s Herbetum and Jekka's Herb Garden
- Jekka's private garden
- The productive vegetable garden
- Jekka's Herb Farm site
Essential Experience & Attributes:
- Strong all-round gardening knowledge and a keen desire to continue learning.
- Proven practical horticultural skills.
- Flexible attitude with a willingness to develop new skills and support the wider team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, strimming, mowing, and other general garden maintenance.
- Taking ownership of specific garden areas to ensure they are maintained to the highest standards.
- Undertaking a variety of horticultural tasks to develop, conserve, and enhance the garden, including new projects.
- Supervising and supporting volunteers, setting tasks, and overseeing their work.
- Assisting in the propagation and production of plants for sale to visitors.
- Engaging with visitors when the gardens are open: sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge about the plants and trees.
- Supporting events, including master classes, private tours, and occasional setup for farm activities.
Additional Information:
- We are located down a country lane; therefore, own transport is essential.
- This is a permanent, full-time position (39 hours/week, 5 days/week).
- Flexibility is required to accommodate weather conditions and operational needs, including occasional weekend work.
Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
