Jekka at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Jekka loves espousing about the use of herbs, especially culinary herbs, in the garden. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the most eminent place, arguably in the world, to do this.

Jekka has a long history with at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. As Jekka’s Herb Farm, Jekka first exhibited at the show in 1993 and went on to win 14 gold medals for her certified organic, peat free, displays in the floral marquee. Jekka was also the first female head judge of the floral Marquee in 2010 and accomplished her dream of creating a show garden in 2016.

Jekka's at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023

Although we do not have a garden or exhibit at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, our herbs can be seen in many displays. In particular, we are delighted to be growing for three gardens at this year's show:

The Savills Garden designed by Mark Gregory. This garden evokes the experience of stepping into the intimate walled garden of a country hotel. We were delighted to have grown a range of culinary herbs for this garden, from Nasturtium Empress Of India (Tropaeolum majus 'Empress of India'), Chocolate Mint (Mentha x piperita f.citrata 'Chocolate'), Prostrate Borage (Borago pygmaea) to three of Jekka's spectacular Angelicas (Angelica archangelica).

The RBC Brewin Dolphin Garden designed by Paul Hervey Brookes. This garden draws creative inspiration from the way knowledge is passed down from generation to generation and interpreted for the modern world. We grew some beautiful herbs for foliage in this garden, such as the Variegated Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana 'Variegata') and Cardoon (Cynara cardunculus)

The Choose Love Garden designed by Jane Porter. This garden is inspired by refugee migration routes across Europe and the concept of desire lines. Jane had a number of our creeping Thymes, such as Elfin Thyme (Thymus serpyllum 'Elfin') and Cretan Thyme (Thymus caespititius). We are also delighted to have Jane speaking at this year's Jekka's HerbFest.

Jekka's & Riverstone

Jekka will be heading to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in her finery, both in her capacity as Vice-president of the RHS and also as a Riverstone Partner.

We have a long relationship with Riverstone, who offer the very best in London living to people over 65 (Read how in the blog linked below). We are also grateful as they are one of the supporting sponsors of this year's Jekka's HerbFest and will have a stall if you want to find out more. (Tickets available on our website!)

Jekka has recently created two herb gardens for Riverstone, at their Kensington and Fulham residences. They are both community gardens at the heart of their developments providing herbs for the residents and chefs to use, creating a tranquil space for everyone to enjoy. You can recreate these gardens from the designs in the Jekka's blog.

Also, if you are in London for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, why don’t you visit Jekka’s culinary kitchen herb gardens at either their Riverstone’s Kensington or Fulham residences. You can then pop into Maria G’s for lunch!
